We are a holding company that acquires, operates, and grows small businesses with strong local roots. Our focus is on long-term ownership, steady growth, and reinvesting value back into the communities where our companies operate. We started as a central-service solution for our founder’s first three businesses: Groundhouse Coffee, Blazer Strategies, and MythicHire.

The name 030 comes from Gardner, Kansas — zip code 66030 — where this work began. What started locally became a broader conviction: seller financing can bring more and better paying jobs into communities. We’re here to prove that capitalism can be leveraged as a tool to build wealth for an entire community instead of just the owners or investors.

What We Do

The 030 acquires businesses across multiple industries and provides shared operational support, strategic leadership, and patient capital. Our role is not to flip companies or chase short-term returns. We honor the legacy of the seller by keeping their employees and findings ways for the business to grow, ultimately sharing those increased profits with the employees themselves through increased salaries, profit sharing, and/or pathways to ownership.

By centralizing back-office functions, improving systems, and investing in leadership, we allow each business to focus on what it does best — serving customers, creating jobs, and contributing to the local economy. We’re creating our own internal ecosystem where each portfolio company goods and services to the others at a reduced cost. This decreases the overhead for each business, while increasing the revenue. Every business grows and every business increases its resiliency to market changes.

When we acquire a company, we keep the sellers on for several weeks or months to help with the transition. During this time we either promote an internal hire from that business or hire externally to fill the role of managing director. Every managing director is supported with all the administrative and business knowledge of the holding company team.

We are the leading and most trusted firm in the country on using seller financing to acquire small businesses. We understand how to honor sellers for their hard work and reward them for the growth after we’ve taken over. Caring for their long-time employees and community are among our top priorities.

We value businesses based on a multiple of Seller Discretionary Earnings (SDE). We use this number to evaluate the cash flow needed to support paying the seller back, hiring a managing director for the business, and still seeing a profit on the books each year.

Our terms are typically 5-10 years with 3-5% interest. We have a lot of levers to pull in a deal to help meet the seller’s long-term financial goals. Some of these are balloon payments, higher or lower interest rates, lease-option deals, and more.
